Emmerdale may have just confirmed Nicola’s new love after tragic Jimmy ending

It pains me to say it, it really does, but Nick Miles is leaving Emmerdale, which means the iconic Jimmy King and Nicola partnership is soon going to end.

The character is being killed off, which means devastation is waiting for Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler).

Producer of the show Laura Shaw shared back in May that Nicola will be supported by a suprise village resident this year, as she finds herself facing a ‘few troubles’.

The resident in question is Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill). Biological father to Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches), Kev has clashed with Nicola multiple times since his return, due to the fact she is convinced he will end up breaking Lewis’ heart.

It appears the foundations for this new dynamic between Kev and Nicola are now starting to get laid. In this evening’s episode, Kev did surprisingly well during his shift at the cafe, and then helped Lewis and Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) clean the bins later that day.

While they were outside, the trio heard Nicola confronting Jimmy. He had skived off work to play golf with Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker), and faced his partner’s very angry wrath when he got back.

As Jimmy slipped away with his tail between his legs, Nicola approached Kev, Vinny and Lewis.

Seconds later, Kev decided to spray Nicola with the hose. Given the fact Nicola doesn’t really know how to use her inside voice when she’s angry, it’s possible Kev was trying to distract her.

Maybe Kev doesn’t find Nicola as annoying as he makes out?

If Jimmy continues skiving off work and annoying Nicola, will she find herself spending more time with Kev?

Could this potentially foreshadow a new romance story between them?

‘They’ve got a funny relationship’, actor Chris said, summarising the dynamic Kev has with Nicola.

‘I think he likes the fact that she’s protective of Lewis, which he does appreciate. But at the same time she doesn’t want Kev there and there’s a bit of him that does want to win her over. Especially after her trying to get rid of him. And to be fair, him parking the van right outside the cafe was quite an antagonistic thing to do.’

Interestingly, Chris isn’t ruling out the possibility of Kev finding a new love interest either.

‘There could be’, he teased.

‘Not with anyone in particular at the moment but he is open to offers.’
