Emmerdale star Emma Atkins has confirmed a major new scene featuring her character Charity Dingle and Dr Caitlin Todd. Viewers know that the evil Dr Todd is currently living away from the village after blackmailing and sexually assaulting Charity.

Dr Todd wasn’t charged with the crime, but we know we’ll see her again as a recent flashforward scene showed Todd’s dead body.
Despite Dr Todd being away from the village, Atkins hinted at a reunion for the pair, saying Charity will find “peace”.
“There’s a moment which I can’t really talk about too much,” she said. “But she comes face to face with Todd. And there’s just this brilliant, pivotal moment where Charity almost puts it to rest to Todd’s face.”
She continued: “And just also she just finds peace, even though she knows maybe legally, she won’t get it.”
Describing how Charity comes to terms with what has happened to her, Atkins said: “Have you ever had that thing where you almost forgive?
“She finds some form of forgiveness towards Todd that she’s reached within her own mind, her own capacity, forgiveness. And that’s a hard thing to do when you’ve been violated in that way.”
Speaking about Charity’s strength throughout the storyline, Atkins said she thought the script was “fantastic” when she first read it.
On what to expect from upcoming scenes, the soap star said that Charity finally has enough of being “threatened and blackmailed by Todd”, so she decides to come clean to Mack.
“She’s kept it all in, and then finally, she’s like, enough is enough,” she said. “And it’s when she comes back from the lake that that journey starts unveiling the truth to Mack, and then we’ll see what she decides to do with the rest of the secret that she’s holding.”

Asked how Charity might react if she were to face Todd again after a long period of time, Atkins teased a showdown between Charity and the villain.
She said: “Well, she definitely gets to have her moment with her, which I think – the audience are owed that because they followed this journey of the blackmail and Caroline [Harker] playing Todd so brilliantly in this very powerful dynamic.”
She continued: “So I think the audience need to see that showdown, and I don’t want to give too much away, but it’s absolutely brilliant.
“It was written so well and Caroline played it so fantastically and it was a very special day of filming for us both and I think the audience will be blown away with the outcome, really, and shocked, and there’s some kind of retribution and justice in its own way, and you’ll see that moving forward.
“But yeah, every part of that was needed and necessary for the journey. And I think the audience will be pleased.”
