‘Didn’t get the chance’: Clint Stanaway’s sad admission amid baby news

Weeks after revealing he was set to become a father, the former Weekend Today Show star had an update.

The beloved grandmother of former Weekend Today Show star Clint Stanaway died before he got the chance to tell her he was going to be a dad, the radio host has emotionally revealed.

Clint, 43, who now co-hosts the Nova 100 breakfast show Jase, Lauren & Clint,  shared the upsetting family news just three months after announcing he was set to become a father with a close friend.

That close friend is former The Block star Eliza Paschke, 40, who crossed paths with Clint while he was still working at Channel Nine.

The duo – who are not in a relationship – will have a co-parenting arrangement.

“I’m going to be having a baby with a really good friend of mine,” Clint told his radio co-stars in June.

“Her name’s Eliza and we’re going to be using a co-parenting model to have this child.

“We’re going to have a different looking family but a family that’s not going to have any shortage of love in it.”

Clint Stanaway became emotional sharing the baby news on air.

The star then became emotional as he recalled seeing his unborn baby for the first time.

“Hearing the heartbeat and seeing your baby there, it was just like, ‘Wow…this is special’,” he said.

“It took my breath away. And I can’t wait for you to meet my little boy or girl.”

Now, in a new segment on August 26, Clint revealed how he had gone through a session with Australian psychic medium David The Medium.

During that session, David connected with Clint’s nan.

“For me it was my nan who has recently passed, as in a couple of months ago, and I always wanted to tell her – she was always very encouraging of me becoming a dad one day, and I am going to become a dad in November, and I didn’t get the chance to tell her, but she reached out in in that moment, which was really cool,” the star explained.

The Block star Eliza Paschke is expecting a baby with Clint Stanaway, with the pair set to co-parent.

He added that David The Medium got a “queen” vibe from his nan – which was very apt as relatives used to reference her as being the “queen of the Stanaway family”.

“She looked like the Queen, and…[her] brothers and sisters were sort of also named as well [by David The Medium], which was quite moving,” Clint shared.

While Clint’s nan would have been thrilled at the news of his impending fatherhood, his baby mama Eliza was forced to defend her own parents’ reaction to her pregnancy, after a video she shared of it garnered a lot of questions.

The video showed Eliza – who previously told of how she spent her Block winnings on freezing her eggs – breaking the news during a family photo.

“What? Are you serious?” her shocked mum could be seen asking.

Eliza defended the reaction as a “typical family dynamic”.

The video of Eliza’s parents reacting to her pregnancy news caused quite a stir.

“For those asking why my relatives were so shocked (when it was in the making for years)…. They knew about my plan, but it was a lengthy process,” she explained.

“I chose to keep a lot of the details to myself along the way (in case things didn’t work out as hoped). Hence the perplexed reactions when this actually became a reality (after so long).”

In a 2024 column for nine.com.au, Eliza, now 40, spoke of how The Block enabled her decision to invest in egg freezing – something she called a “security blanket” should she want children later in life.

“I was single with no assets to my name and had saved up just enough money for an overseas holiday. Instead of going on that holiday, I made a $10,000 investment in my future,” she shared.

“I wouldn’t be able to do it without those winnings because as a lot of you know it is an investment.”

In June, the former reality star shared more details about how she was feeling about her baby dreams coming true.

“Becoming a mum is something I’ve always thought about and openly discussed,” Eliza wrote on Instagram, sharing a picture of her sonogram.

“Today I’m 16 weeks pregnant, and feeling immensely grateful to be in this position. I know there will be lots of questions, which I’ll answer over time.”

Eliza said she feels “immensely grateful”.

Eliza went on to add that she was “so happy” to be sharing the experience with the “wonderful human” who is Clint.

Clint, meanwhile, shared a pregnancy update with fans in an August 21 post.

“27 weeks in… and yep, the cinny scroll cravings are real for the three of us,” he quipped, sharing a photo of himself and Eliza.

“We’ve had so many incredible messages from people over the past few months. Thank you for all the kind words, support and advice so far.

“We can’t wait to meet our little person in November!”
