Hope for Emmerdale fans as Mike Parr declares end of Ross relationship

Emmerdale’s Michael Parr has declared the end of a Ross Barton romance storyline.

Over the past year or so, Ross has become known as a character who surprises us a lot with his love interest choices. We were all left taken aback when it was revealed that Ross had been sleeping with Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker), and his taste for the more mature lady was explored again in the summer when he started seeing Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy).

While Manpreet and Laurel were both brief flings, there was a glimmer of hope that Ross was about to secure something a bit more long-term when he met a new Sugden.

A few months ago, Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) began flirting with Ross.

While Ross enjoyed getting to know Serena (and definitely got his hopes up) it was revealed that her reason for charming the local had nothing to do with finding a new boyfriend.

Serena was busy trying to find information on Kim Tate (Claire King) up at Home Farm, and used Ross to get closer to life in the big house.

We then learnt that Serena was only breaking into Home Farm for mate Thea Ramsden (Chelsea Edge), who has been revealed as Kim’s biological daughter.

During a recent chat where he reflected on Ross and Serena’s brief situationship, star Michael Parr confirmed that the storyline probably won’t be revisited in the near future.

‘I thought there was going to be [potential for the pairing], but now they’ve not really crossed paths much, and I feel like it may have lost a bit of that initial momentum and spark’, he said in a chat with Inside Soap.

‘Things move fast and characters get pulled in different directions, so who knows what the future holds but for now, it seems to be on the back burner.’

Now it’s clear that Serena won’t pursue anything with Ross, fans will no doubt be hoping their theory that she has a romantic connection with Thea will come true.

Casey Al-Shaqsy and Chelsea Edge have both discussed the friendship Serena and Thea have, noting that they’ve been pals for years and years.

With fans sensing chemistry between the two women, could it be explored in the future?
