Emmerdale’s Lisa Riley gives health update after injury: “It’s been horrendous”
The Mandy Dingle star suffered a fall back in March.
Emmerdale star Lisa Riley has shared an update with fans following a nasty fall that saw her require surgery and wearing a cast on her left arm. Earlier this year, the Mandy Dingle actor slipped off her breakfast stool and “landed really badly”, injuring her left thumb.
During an appearance on Loose Women on Friday (1 May) alongside panellists Kaye Adams, GK Barry and Denise Welch, the Emmerdale actor provided an update regarding her progress from the injury.
“I had to have surgery on it, here I am week five now. So please say your prayers for me on May 6. I’m back with the specialist and [the cast] is going to come off,” she said, adding that the wound was akin to a “dog bite”.
“Obviously I’m going to have rehab now, physio as I move forward. It’s been horrendous, I still can’t move anything,” explained the actor, who shared that the incident came before a trip to New York City.
“They let me travel – I was more worried because I was flying to New York literally four days later,” she recalled. “So they’ve put this expandable cast on and it was Easter. Can you tell? I went for an Easter colour.”
The fall caused damage to the Ulnar Collateral Ligament (UCL) in Riley’s left thumb, with an operation taking place at Leeds General Infirmary. The soap star paid tribute in an Instagram post, where she thanked the NHS for her treatment.
Riley made a post on Instagram following her appearance on Loose Women, with the star writing: “Fantastic morning today live at @loosewomen @itv with such a great panel – @denise_welch @gkbarry_ @kayeadamsofficial still laughing

The actor was greeted by several messages in the comment section, with Welch saying that they “loved” having Riley on the panel. A follower echoed this sentiment, calling them “fab”.
