‘So glad you’re here’ Emmerdale star heaps praise on newcomer in touching post
Kevin Mathurin has played Charles Anderson since 2020
Emmerdale’s Kevin Mathurin has shared a sweet post on his social media celebrating newcomer Casey Al-Shaqsy.
The actor, who is 53, plays the role of Charles Anderson in the ITV soap.
As the local vicar, Charles is often involved with a lot of the village drama. A few days ago, he got quite the shock when former lodger Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) rocked up.
Charles’ mum Claudette Anderson (Flo Wilson) was thrilled to see Kev, and immediately confirmed that he could stay in the spare room for as long as needed.
The mother and son duo remain pillars of support for the former criminal, as he tries to build a relationship with biological son Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches).
Kevin has portrayed Charles since 2020, which means he’s helped to welcome quite a lot of newcomers in the past six years. Just recently, Casey Al-Shaqsy graced our screens as Serena Sugden, who is quickly becoming a firm favourite for the audience.
Yesterday, Kevin took to his social media to share a number of behind the scenes pictures at Emmerdale. The first snap is a lovely selfie of him and Casey, with Kevin noting in the caption that he’s ‘so glad’ the West End actress has become part of the cast.
‘I’ve done nothing but laugh since we’ve met. So glad you’re here’, he wrote.
Kevin also shared some selfies with Joshua Richards (Bear Wolf), Rebecca Sarker (Manpreet Sharman) and Chris Bisson (Jai Sharma).
Adding to the caption, Kevin said: ‘Always a pleasure working with the legend that is #joshuarichards. Over the last year, Bear’s story has been epic.
‘I miss my partner in crime @rebeccasarker. It was nice spending the day working and catching up. Hanging out with the Sharmas. Bless up to @rebeccasarker and @chrisbisson.’
In the comments, Casey responded to Kevin’s sweet message and posted: ‘Omg!!! Love you Kevin!!! Xxx’.
Casey’s character Serena is the distant cousin of Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley). Prior to arriving in the village, she found Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) alone by a lake, struggling under the weight of a number of secrets.
Serena learnt about everything that Charity has been going through, and helped her see that she needed to tell Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb).
The newbie eventually found Robert in the Dales, and has been living with him and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) up on Emmerdale Farm.
The possibility of Serena hiding a secret increases in the near future, as Aaron questions if there’s an alternative reason for her being at the scene when Robert is struck by a trailer.
Aaron lays out his theory to Robert, and he and Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) agree to keep an eye on her. As Aaron and Chas dig for answers, a secret on Serena’s stolen phone threatens to blow everything wide open.
Robert confronts Serena with proof of her lie – but what exactly is she keeping from them?
And will they be able to forgive her?
