Everyone is loving Coronation Street’s Ryan after important and impactful scene

‘Ryan’s character is evolving so well. Wonderful acting!’

Coronation Street fans have been full of praise for Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) after Tuesday night’s episode, with many saying he was exactly what Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) needed following Betsy Swain’s (Sydney Martin) devastating stroke.

The ITV soap shared a clip from the emotional scene on Instagram after the episode aired, captioning it: ‘Dylan’s face as he finally accepts what’s happened.’

It didn’t take long for viewers to flood the comments, with plenty praising both the writing and the performances. But it was Ryan’s calm, understanding approach to Dylan that really struck a chord.

After finally visiting Betsy in hospital, Dylan was left struggling to come to terms with everything that’s happened. Already terrified he could end up in prison after Lisa Connor-Swain reported him to the police, the weight of the situation was clearly beginning to hit home.

As he left Betsy’s room, Ryan caught up with him for a quiet conversation that viewers have been calling one of the storyline’s strongest moments so far.

Rather than shouting at Dylan or making him feel even worse, Ryan spoke to him honestly. He explained that he believed Dylan had never meant to hurt Betsy and admitted he’d been in similar consensual situations himself, saying he’d never realised they could have such serious consequences.

It was a simple scene, but fans felt it was exactly what Dylan needed to finally understand the reality of what had happened.

The comments quickly poured in after Coronation Street shared the clip online.

One fan wrote: ‘Superb acting, extremely emotional.’

Another said: ‘At last, someone has spoken to Dylan properly.’

Dylan finally went to see Betsy in the hospital

A third added: ‘Loving Ryan right now.’

Someone else praised Ryan’s development, writing: ‘Ryan’s character is evolving so well. Wonderful acting!’

Many viewers also pointed out that Ryan was the first person to really explain things to Dylan without losing his temper.

One fan commented: ‘I’m glad Ryan stopped and gently spoke in a calm way – I am so sure he knew Dylan didn’t realise the consequences of what he did.’

Another wrote: ‘Bless you, Ryan! Finally someone explained to Dylan (rather than just yelling at him) how his part in their sexual activity led to Betsy’s stroke.’

The emotional scenes come after a dramatic week on the cobbles.

Last week, Betsy was found collapsed at No. 6 before being rushed to hospital. Doctors later confirmed she’d suffered a stroke, before revealing she’d gone on to have a second one after a blood clot formed because of damage to an artery in her neck.

Betsy is expected to make a good recovery, but Lisa wants justice

Betsy later told mum Lisa that the injury happened during consensual sex with Dylan, with neither teenager realising at the time how dangerous it could be.

Although doctors have since told Betsy she’s expected to make a good recovery, the fallout is far from over.

Lisa is still determined to see Dylan held accountable and has encouraged Betsy to make a formal complaint, despite her daughter pleading with her to let it go.

The storyline has already sparked plenty of conversation among viewers, but judging by the reaction online, Ryan’s quiet chat with Dylan has become one of the week’s standout moments.
