Emmerdale’s Kim gets surprising friend in Charity and comes to a big decision
Kim Tate finds a surprising ally in Charity Dingle

Kim Tate (Claire King) and Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) are unlikely Emmerdale pals.
There’s been a lot of water under the bridge for these two, but who knew that the thing to connect them would be their adopted children?
Kim had a shocker recently when she realised that she’d stabbed her biological daughter in the gut after falsely believing she’d stolen Baby Tate.
Thea Ramsden (Chelsea Edge) had been trying to get close to Kim as part of a revenge plot for giving her up at birth. Her plan saw her orchestrate moments to break into Kim’s inner circle and was delighted when Kim turned to her when Baby Tate went missing.
But her need for revenge nearly killed her when Kim freaked out, believing she was the one behind the kidnap, and shoved a knife in her belly. Thankfully, Kim missed all major arteries, and the wound was shallow enough that Thea pulled through.
But the cat is out of the bag now, Kim knows Thea is her daughter and she wants to make amends. They chatted through what really happened when Kim gave her up – she was blackmailed by a police chief – and Thea decided to let bygones be bygones.

Kim invites Thea to spend time together, but Kim isn’t ready to fully acknowledge the situation. She publicly downplays what’s going on, leaving Thea hurt when she avoids telling Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson) the truth of who she is.
As Thea leaves, Kim comes clean to Mary, who suggests she has some bridges to build. Kim reaches out to Thea, who is determined to let her stew, and Kim finds herself telling the story to Charity.
In a surprising turn of events, Charity is supportive. She has her own woeful tale of a child given up at birth and forging a relationship later in life – Ryan Stocks (James Moore). She tells Kim to persevere with Thea and not to give up.

Thea finally makes contact and Kim is overjoyed, but Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) senses something is off. As someone who is familiar with a plot or two, Joe might know what he’s talking about. Has Thea really forgiven her mum for ruining her start in life? Joe is unconvinced.
Kim is too swept up in their reunion to care and in a bold move, announces to the whole pub who Thea is.
But whatever Thea is up to, she manages to reunite Joe and Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) in their loathing of her. Together they make a plan that she needs to be carefully watched. Have they got her pegged?
