Coronation Street confirms devastating loss for Mary as Tracy makes a big decision

Her livelihood is ripped from beneath her…

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street‘s Mary Taylor bids farewell to Preston’s Petals next week, after Tracy Barlow recruits daughter Amy to run the shop’s website.

With the surprise shake-up leaving no room in the budget for Mary’s role, what will she do without her beloved day job?

Having learned that Tracy has employed her daughter, Mary quickly susses out that her own wage will now be too costly for the business to maintain.

So, the florist puts on a brave face and tells Tracy that she has secured another job in town, before bidding an emotional goodbye…

“Mary throws her arms around Tracy, thanks her for everything, then leaves the shop in tears,” reveals our Street insider.

“It’s an emotional moment, as it should be, given that Mary spent nearly 10 years of her life working for Tracy.”

With Mary gone, Tracy can’t help but feel guilty for letting her loyal employee walk out, even if bringing Amy on board seemed the right thing to do. But will Amy live up to her mum’s high expectations?

The week begins with Tracy asking Amy whether she would be up for overseeing the shop’s online presence, which delights the business graduate no end.

Later, Tracy explains to Abi that she’s hired Amy, but it means that she will have to make Mary redundant as a result.

“Who would’ve thought that Tracy Barlow had a conscience?” continues our spy. “She’s cut up at having to send Mary off into the unknown.

“Maybe this is the start of a new era for Tracy, where she wears her heart on her sleeve. We can hope, anyway…”

Now without a job, where will Mary turn next?
