‘You’ve changed my life’: Coronation Street star pays tribute as she confirms final scenes

Megan Walsh will go down in history as one of the most hideous Coronation Street villains ever, thanks, in large part, to the flawless performance of Beth Nixon.
A character like Megan, by her very nature, has to wear multiple faces.
Saccharine school teacher and sports coach, manipulative and Machiavellian sexual predator, fearsome and vicious enemy, Beth embodied every facet of Megan, sometimes within the space of a single scene and proved herself to be a formidable actress, creating an insidious monster that had us viewers praying for her downfall…
…and our prayers were finally answered when Megan was found guilty of sexually grooming her long time victim, Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) and sent to prison for her heinous crime.
The drawback of that, though, is that we have to lose Beth, who took to Instagram to bid farewell to Megan and her Corrie co-stars with a carousel of images from behind the scenes of her time at the ITV soap.
‘Megan, you’re a cow and I’ll miss you like a hole in the head,’ she began the caption.
‘Thank you thank you thank you to every single person at @coronationstreet you’ve changed my life! Peace out’
The comment section was flooded with well-wishes and praise from those she worked alongside.
‘You are just incredible. Can’t wait to watch you soar xxx’ said Sydney Martin, who plays Betsy Swain, while Catherine Tyldesley who plays Eva Price added: ‘We love you! Outstanding!!!!’
Her former on-screen rival, Jude Riordan, who plays Sam Blakeman said: ‘Yes Beth’, while fellow baddie Olivia Frances-Brown who plays Jodie Ramsey added: ‘SMASHED IT!!!’
As well as co-stars, fans of the show took to the comments section to praise Beth’s performance, including one who spoke at length about their excitement for the future:
‘Beth you are an amazing actress !! I certainly won’t miss Megan but that’s a different story for you, you were fab at Corrie but I know you’re going to do even more amazing things, good luck angel and I am so excited to keep supporting you and see all the wonderful things you achieve’
@italktelly added: ‘Aw, whilst it was the right ending for Megan, sad to see you go! Best of luck with what’s next and well done for your stint on the cobbles’, while @jordsdanx said: ‘what a beautiful human you are, you played this storyline AMAZINGLY, your talent will take you a long way, best of luck for the future Beth!!’
@cameroncowan.123 typed a lengthy piece of praise for Beth: ‘Ahh wow these thirteen are absolutely really fabulous, amazing and fantastic pics of you behind the scenes and on set on Coronation Street there Beth.
‘You absolutely truly were so amazing and outstanding as your character role of Megan Walsh on the cobbles on Corrie you absolutely truly were indeed. You absolutely truly did totally nailed it on Coronation Street as your character Megan Walsh there too. You are amazing there Beth. Well Done to you’
As well as his comment on her post, Jude, one of Megan’s many on-screen enemies previously took to his own Instagram to celebrate Beth’s time on the cobbles, with a behind the scenes shot to show that their off-screen relationship is much more pleasant than on!
‘FRIENDS REALLY! I really enjoyed working with Beth. Megan really tormented Sam and pushed him right over the edge, but shows what a great baddie she is!’ he wrote in the caption.
‘Aww Jude, you can see the tears in my eyes here!’ Beth replied.
‘I loved working with you and you are smashing this storyline, the nomination is so so well deserved you are a star!’
