Cassie issues a stark warning to Tracy in Coronation Street as she enters dangerous new romance

If there’s one thing that’s defined Cassie Plummer’s (Claire Sweeney) entire tenure in Coronation Street, it’s her abject hatred of Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford).

And, I mean, it’s understandable, isn’t it?

Most people who live in Weatherfield can’t stand Tracy; she’s utterly vile, but she does seem to possess a special kind of vitriol for Cassie, perhaps due to the incredibly personal reason their beef was born.

As vicious as Tracy is, she does feel love, particularly for her family, and her hatred of Cassie developed when she began caring for Tracy’s dad Ken Barlow (William Roache).

Worried that he wouldn’t need her for much longer, Cassie began lacing his tea with antihistamine in the hopes it’d increase his reliance, before ultimately stealing from him.

When he discovered what she’d been up to, Ken collapsed before being rushed to hospital, where doctors informed him that he’d suffered a heart attack.

While Tracy thirsted for vengeance, Ken decided against pressing charges after hearing that Fiz and Tyrone Dobbs (Jennie McAlpine and Alan Halsall) had kicked Cassie out, reasoning that she’d already lost everything.

That wasn’t enough for Tracy, though, who attempted to bring on a relapse, trying to seduce Cassie with a bag of drugs, while actively delighting in her homelessness.

The return of Cassie’s mum, Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman), proved to be the turning point to get her back on track.

Back on more even footing, it became incredibly clear that there was a spark between Cassie and Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson).

You all know Steve, right? The one that Tracy has married twice and shares a daughter with?…

…you see where I’m going with this?

Of course, this narked Tracy off even further, and the bitter feud between the two fierce females raged on, leading to bitter exchanges of barbs and vicious quips as Tracy seemingly made it her mission to try and destroy their fledgling bond.

When Cassie tried to propose to Steve, a proposal that was utterly destroyed by the death of Steve’s dad, Tracy delighted in the failure, and made it very well known.

Cassie’s second proposal was equally as affected by Tracy, who listened in when Steve failed to disconnect from a call with Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine), allowing her to listen in to everything.

This week sees the re-emergence of Tyrone’s dad, Ross Wilkes (Ian Burfield), a rather large demon from Cassie’s past.

Rather large is probably putting it too nicely.

As a birthday gift, Hope and Ruby (Isabella Flanagan and Billie Naylor) tracked him down with a sample of Tyrone’s DNA, and it isn’t long until he’s making friends with Tracy.

Friends with benefits, that is.

Having discovered that they spent the night together, Cassie decides that her worry over Ross trumps her hatred of Tracy and approaches her enemy with a stern warning: Ross is incredibly bad news.
